So, I was going through Cover Browser the other night and looked at the cover of Avengers no.1 for the hundredth time and it hit me how I could make it work with the Valiants. Since this story is unfolding in Ad Astra right now, it's kinda natural it would come together at some point.
Done with the greatest respect for the King, Jack Kirby.

Thanks. If I ever did a comic of this story, I'd come up with an original design, but it just seemed like fun to homage the Avengers #1 cover.

I love Thunderhead's costume design. Just out of curiosity, what's Hoplite's power set?

Hoplite's armor uses a primitive form of paragravity to fly, generate force-shields and beams and to allow him to simulate super-strength. He's only able to lift (like grab and lift) something about the mass of a small car, large stuff he'd have to tractor with the paragrav beams. His shield is like the rest of his armor and is remote controlled, so he can throw it at targets. His targeting capabilities are limited in the early days, because it's the early 70s, but it gets better as time goes on. The metal parts of the suit are a tough bronze alloy laminate, and the whole suit gets structural reinforcement from the paragrav field he's wrapped in.
He doesn't have a lot in the way of sensors crammed into the early suits, maybe primitive night vision/light amplification.

Great looking cover. I'm actually enjoying Ad Astra more than I am most of the stuff being put out by the "big two" at the moment. It seems like they've forgotten that comics are actually supposed to be fun to read.

Thanks! I really appreciate that. That's exactly my thinking, with modern comics. Lately, the only comic I was excited to see coming out was the next Empowered book.
