So, with the surge in interest in Thanos, I got interested in reading all his early appearances. The earliest of these was Iron Man no.55 where he's the threat behind the threat of the alien Blood Brothers. I don't usually swipe a cover in this much detail, but it just felt right, this time. So, here it is, with sincerest apologies to Jim Starlin and Joe Sinnott who did the original Iron Man cover.
In Hoplite's case, the Star Stalkers are a brotherhood of interstellar mercenaries and bounty hunters. These two, and probably some others, are employed by Malus to track and kill enemies he doesn't have the time or inclination to kill, himself.
The Annihilator is analogous to the Destroyer, but instead of being an animated corpse, more or less, he's the last surviving Nocti, one of the Lost Races of Man, whose people were wiped out by Malus.

:la: Wow this is too cool, I love the classic covers homage... I even did one myself ...I miss seeing those and the thrills and anticipation it gives the fans just by reading captions and this one has it, fantastic job Sir, really has that golden/silver age aura! :icongreatjobplz:

This is one where I really tried to stick with the original cover design. I had read the Iron Man issue recently, along with the rest of Thanos's appearances and I just thought it was the perfect Iron Man cover to reference. I miss old school comic covers, too. Especially looking at the original art. Comic pages, too, with the captions and word balloons in place, seem more fun to me than the modern covers and pages, with just the artwork.

Yup. First appearance of Thanos. In that story the other Titans were not pink skinned like they appeared later they were all purple but Thanos was just uglier than the others.
The back story on them was changed originally it seems they were descendants of the actual mythological Titans not Eternals.

Realized I'd uploaded the wrong file. The first one chopped off half the masthead.
