that's pretty cool! He almost reminds me of Lightning Lad from the Legion.

Dave Cockrum and John Byrne are probably my two strongest design influences. Cockrum's Legion designs are among the best ever in comics and, as far as I am concerned, his Lightning Lad costume is perfect and absolutely timeless.

Heh. Ryan is good. He owes a lot of his style to Dave Cockrum. I especially noticed it while reading some of his FF work. Cockrum's early work on X-men was nothing, compared to his ground-breaking work on the Legion. If it wasn't for an idiot editor at DC, the "new" X-men might never have happened. Dave did this awesome 2-page spread for the wedding of Bouncing Boy and Duo Damsel and they decided to print it as one page, turned sideways. Pissed him off so much he left.

I was reading Byrne's stuff before he ever went to Marvel. His Charlton work was so different, I was hooked.

His Legion stuff was in Superboy (Legion of Super-Heroes) #184, 188, 190-191, 193, 195, 197-202. It was issue 200 that caused him to leave. They screwed up his two-page splash and there was a dispute over returning the artwork for that issue.

I first saw Davis's work when he took over the art on Marvelman from Gary Leach, in Warrior Magazine. Been following him ever since.
